Ideas for further thought and discussion
1. Imagine that at the end of an evangelistic meeting you have two minutes to answer the question: Is same-sex attraction sinful? After you’ve read the article, try recording your two minute answer, and then listen to it again and reflect on how you might improve it. Ask someone you know who experiences same-sex attraction to give you feedback. If you’re reading Primer with a group, listen to each other’s two minute answers and discuss what’s most helpful.
2. If you want more help thinking about the importance of connecting our views of sexuality to a wider biblical narrative, look out for Glynn Harrison’s book A Better Story: God, Sex and Human Flourishing (Jan 2017).
3. Until now one of the few books available on transgenderism has been Mark Yarhouse’s Understanding Gender Dysphoria. It is helpful in many ways but also has some significant weaknesses. Read a review by Primer’s editor David Shaw.
